About the Event
Interested in raised garden beds for production or seed saving? Come for a day at Wildflower Farm in Pennington, NJ with Tomia MacQueen and North Jersey RC&D's Regenerative Farm Network (RFN-NJ). Tomia will go over basics of choosing the right kind of raised bed for your goals, bed preparation, crop rotation, as well as seed production and companion planting. Stay for a guided hands-on experience in preparing beds.
Agenda
9:30am - 10:00am: Check-in
10am - 11am: Basics of raised garden prep such as bed selection, location, and how to create the perfect raised bed soil environment.
11am - 12:00pm: Crop rotations for easy pest and disease control and better soil health.
12pm - 12:30pm: Lunch (Bring your own bagged lunch)
12:30pm - 1:30pm: Seed production - How to incorporate seed production into your garden.
1:30pm - 3:00pm: Get guided hands-on experience as we prepare some beds. This includes building an easy raised bed, refreshing current raised beds with compost or raised bed mix & preparing beds for production. Cool season crop planting.
Additional Details:
Make sure to bring gardening gloves if you would like to use them.
Guests may be asked to wear plastic booties (we will provide them) to prevent biosecurity risks of avian influenza and hoof rot for the host farm and your own farm. Guests with poultry or ruminants are encouraged to bring shoes they do not use on-farm to help prevent biosecurity risks.
Please make sure to save the event date (Saturday, March 29th) and the rain date (Saturday, April 5th)!
Please note that ticket fees are non-refundable unless both dates are cancelled due to weather.

Make sure your mapping app takes you down Pennington-Harbourton Road. It will often take you down Woosamonsa Road instead, which runs parallel and North of Pennington-Harbourton Road.
If you use Google Maps, you can type in Wildflower Farm, Pennington and the correct address should come up.
If you use Apple Maps, try typing in 326 Pennington-Harbourton Road instead and keep an eye out for the 321 mailbox with flowers on it. There should also be an RFN-NJ lawn sign at the driveway.
